Fire at commercial building in Falmouth causes road closures | News

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were called at 12.08am this morning (Thursday May 16) to a fire at a commercial building in Falmouth.

On arrival at Ponsharden shipyard on the A39 Falmouth Road, crews say the building was well alight.

The road is closed in both directions from Hillhead roundabout to Parade North this morning.

Falmouth crews fabricated 5 pumps and an aerial ladder platform.

Additional crews were mobilized from Tolvaddon, Helston, Newquay and Truro community fire stations to assist, two officers were mobilized as well as specialist vehicles from Perranporth and St Just community fire stations were mobilized.

Crews are now down to 3 pumping devices, but are still monitoring hot spots.

Roads in the Ponsharden area will be closed until further notice.

Devonian & Cornwall Police are also present.
