Officers who died in the line of duty honored at Jacksonville memorial

JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KETK) – Four fallen police officers were honored Wednesday for their sacrifice and service to the Jacksonville community as part of National Police Week.

The Jacksonville Police Department and other law enforcement agencies came together to honor fallen local police officers. The officers’ names will be added to the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington.

“It is important that we take time each year to stop and remember them, their sacrifice and their service to our community,” said Jacksonville Police Chief Joe Williams.

National Police Week was first established by President John F. Kennedy in 1962 to honor and recognize police officers who died protecting others.
