Delays on the A28 Canterbury Road at Birchington and Ashford after vehicle fire and car crash

Motorists faced long delays on a major route this morning following a massive, unrelated vehicle fire.

Firefighters were called just before 8.30am to the A28 Canterbury Road in St Nicholas in Wade in Birchington after a vehicle caught fire.

Two fire trucks responded and crews extinguished the fire shortly after 9:30 a.m. – no injuries were reported.

There was also an accident on the A28 Canterbury Road in Ashford this morning.

An ambulance service spokesperson said paramedics were called shortly after 7am following reports of an RTC involving two vehicles.

Crews arrived and treated and evaluated one person at the scene.
