Buildings on Vulcan Street, Bradford, may be demolished

Two of the buildings owned by John Sylvester Ltd, of Dudley Hill, were badly damaged in a fire several years ago, with the roof destroyed.

Since then, the buildings on Vulcan Street have been empty.

Earlier this spring, the company, which produces fasteners and plastics, applied for planning permission to demolish the two damaged buildings and renovate the site’s main warehouse.

Bradford Council planning officers have now approved the plans, which will see the buildings replaced with parking spaces.

Officers said: “The demolition of the two warehouses to the south of the site would be considered a visual improvement.

“These are visibly disused structures and, although older, have very little obvious heritage value.

“The new parking area to the south would include seven internal parking spaces with two associated electric vehicle charging points.

“The additional parking spaces would be considered to facilitate the function of the wider site and to better accommodate on-street parking on William Street associated with the premises. »
