DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Several trees and power lines were down in eastern Wiregrass after thunderstorms earlier today.

Trees and power lines fell along Jordan Avenue in Cowarts. A tree fell in the Granberry Crossroads area of Henry County, blocking a dirt driveway leading to a home.

The potentially dangerous winds that toppled trees and power lines did not come directly from thunderstorms but from a wake low. This small area of pressure developed behind the main line of storms that crossed the Wiregrass Monday morning. Waking up depressions are usually short-lived, but can be intense.

The first round of these storms continues to move south and east, giving Wiregrass a dry spell Monday afternoon.

Another round of potentially dangerous showers and storms arrive early Tuesday morning, around 2-3 a.m. These storms could last until 9 a.m. and cause damaging winds and flooding.
