Authorities identify woman who died after being hit by pickup truck outside Bellingham

A woman who died after being struck by a pickup truck just north of Bellingham last week has been identified by authorities as 24-year-old Reyna Cruz. Cruz’s last known address was in Lynden, according to Whatcom medical examiner Deb Hollis.

Authorities initially said the woman was 33 years old and from Seattle, but Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding said Monday that Cruz had someone else’s ID on her at the time. his death.

Cruz was standing in the southbound lane of Meridian Guide around 3:30 a.m. Friday, May 10, at the intersection of Smith Road, when she was struck and killed by a 2019 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a Lynden man who was the first to report the incident.

Cruz was pronounced deceased at the scene.
